Ron Johnson is a graduate of Cy-Fair High School, having lived in Northwest Harris County for over thirty years. He attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas receiving a degree in Mathematics and Physics with a teaching certificate in 1985. After graduation, he returned to Harris County to teach math at Cy-Fair High School.
Ron entered law school in 1986 at the University of Houston Law Center. Working his way through law school, he earned a law degree in three years. Ron was licensed to practice and joined the Harris County District Attorney's Office in 1989. As an Assistant District Attorney, Ron tried many cases ranging from misdemeanor DWI and trespass to felony murder, sexual assault and kidnapping. One of the assignments Ron received during his tenure with the District Attorney's Office was chief prosecutor of a county criminal court at law. As a prosecutor, Ron gained experience as a trial lawyer. His duties included: trying jury trials, researching legal issues, negotiating with defense attorneys and supervising junior prosecutors. In 1993, Ron opened his own law firm. The majority of his practice has been in the criminal law field. As a defense attorney, Ron has had an opportunity to gain greater insight into the criminal justice system. |
